Like nearly everyone else in this country, my kids got the barbeque bug last night. Me, I was dog tired after standing on a nearly endless line at Osher Ad (remember endless bliss) supermarket…
The truth is that the wait wasn’t really so bad. I struck up a conversation with a lovely woman from Samara, not Samarkand which sounds like the Russian equivalent of Chicago, right smack in the middle of the country with, bitter cold winters-I forgot to ask about winds, and broiling summers .
Back at home, I had not an ounce of energy for cooking so I turned the package of wings over to my 12 year old son. The one thing I agreed to do was to make a sauce using, a recipe I got from my sister in law Sarah nearly 20 years ago.
It’s a snap to make-believe me I was so wiped out last night, that even snapping was a chore It’s even good smeared right on the wings without marinating though allowing the wings several leisurely hours relaxing in the sauce will make a good thing even better.
So here’s the recipe.
Sarah’s Excellent BBQ Sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
!/4 cup water
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
Lots of garlic powder
Enjoy
